Announcing the formal launch of the Economic Recovery Corps (ERC)!
International Economic Development Council (IEDC), in partnership with 6 national and international associations, and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), is announcing the launch of the inaugural Economic Recovery Corps (ERC) program, which will place up to 65 ERC Fellows from diverse backgrounds and disciplines within partnering organizations across the United States to activate economic development projects or plans that generate new practices and paradigms for equitable and inclusive change.
The Economic Recovery Corps program will accelerate recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in distressed and under-resourced communities across the U.S. by connecting host organizations with highly-trained, early- to mid-career professionals (Fellows) who will be based in the host organization’s community or region. Fellows will provide dedicated technical assistance, planning, and capacity-building support to build stronger, more resilient, equitable economies.
The ERC was originally designed with two main goals:
- To build capacity in under-resourced communities or regions to accelerate their economic development work and drive more equitable economic outcomes; and
- To build a pipeline of the next generation of economic development leaders.
The ERC is funded by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) under the CARES Act and led by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in partnership with six leading national organizations: Center on Rural Innovation (CORI), International City/County Management Association (ICMA), National Association of Counties Research Foundation (NACo RF), National Association of Development Organizations Research Foundation (NADO RF), National League of Cities Institute (NLCI), and RAIN Catalysts.
Right now, IEDC is accepting applications for Host Organizations and ask that you help share this information out to your networks and with organizations you think might be interested. The Host Expression of Interest (EOI) application will be available on the ERC host webpage from May 11 – June 30, 2023.
