Economic Development & Racial Justice

Our members practice economic development to make a difference. In pursuing this mission, the economic development community must acknowledge and address institutionalized racism. Systemic barriers have shut communities of color out of economic opportunity over generations.
Business Oregon has rightly pointed out that “the economic development system is reflective of — and contributed to — these barriers and inequity.” Economic development work must support change and inclusive growth.
As this organization works to make overdue improvements to our own strategies and structure, we recognize our members for their leadership now and throughout years of committed service to their communities. Their dedication motivates and inspires.
Together, we will learn and grow as a professional community. OEDA is committed to serving our members with programs and resources that support this growth. In this incredible moment, we agree with IEDC that ” this profession will rise to the challenge.”
