I am thrilled to share some exciting news about two outstanding members of the Oregon SBDC Network who have received national recognition for their exceptional contributions to the success of small businesses in Oregon.
Sean Harry, a senior business adviser at the Portland Community College SBDC, has been named the 2024 State Star for Oregon. The State Star award is the highest individual recognition within America’s SBDC Network, honoring those who demonstrate exemplary performance and make significant contributions to their Networks.
Over the past 13 years, Sean has been instrumental in supporting Oregon’s small businesses through his business advising, training, and fostering of strong partnerships with technical assistance providers and economic development partners. His dedication to public service and excellence in his role has set a high standard within our Network.
Additionally, Kayla Banda, a business adviser and marketing coordinator at the Portland Community College SBDC, has been honored as a 2024 America’s SBDC 40 Under 40 Award winner. This prestigious award recognizes young professionals within America’s SBDC Network who demonstrate exceptional leadership and innovation.
Kayla has shown remarkable dedication to Oregon’s small businesses, especially through her efforts in business advising, her training program facilitation, and her marketing expertise, which have been crucial in aiding small businesses in their recovery from COVID-19 and in fostering new growth. Her accomplishments are a testament to her unwavering commitment to creative entrepreneurship.
Both Sean and Kayla exemplify the mission of the Oregon SBDC Network—helping build Oregon’s best businesses—and their achievements are reflective of the work and passion that drive our statewide efforts.
