Statement on Inclusive Economic Development

Oregon Economic Development Association acknowledges that slavery was used extensively to establish and develop the American economy.  Structural racism continues to uphold systemic barriers to equity and opportunity for Black and Indigenous Americans and all people of color.  Economic development has often left out marginalized communities in its work to increase prosperity, and in some cases this work has deepened inequities. The economic development community has a responsibility to align its efforts toward equity, and to mount actionable strategies that dismantle racist structures and extend economic opportunity.  OEDA is committed to this continuous work as an organization and supports our member community in the same.
